Much of the housing here is older and solid: Arts and Crafts properties with heavy timber front doors, period cottages, and inter-war semis across the B30 district. Timber doors of that age tend to have mortice deadlocks and rim latches rather than euro cylinders, and the mechanisms themselves are often original, which means worn levers, seized cases, and keys that no longer turn cleanly.
